Joe spoke with the President of our now (or soon-to-be)-defunct pool company. He said that they are going to finish our pool.

Joe spent last week taking care of the next round of permits for the back yard, and we got inspection sign-off on everything but the electrical on Friday (that needs to be changed a bit, but it's not difficult and should be completed quickly). Joe talked to the pool people today (not our contractor - we've essentially given up on them and are paying the subs directly) and they told him that we should have a completed pool that actually contains water by the end of next week.

I'll believe it when I see it.

And, in a miraculous turn of events, there's been actual progress on the pool front. We now have TILE around the top. Now to hook up the equipment, do the concrete finish and pebbletec, and paint the deck top with acrylic so that it's not so hot underfoot. With luck, two weeks ( Read more... )

In other news, we have both cement people and barbecue people working in the back yard right now. Color me amazed.

Well, there was activity in the yard this morning. I was awakened by the glorious sounds of...a jackhammer.

And Joe says they're going to be coming on Monday - at 6:00 am! - to pour the decking and other concrete.

I'm thinking I may sleep in the den on the sofa bed...

So, more than two months ago, the contractors came out and started digging our pool. And we were told that it would be finished sometime around February 8th. Now, I thought that was kind of ambitious, but what do I know? Another pool company is promising a finished pool in fifteen days, so it's not THAT out of the realm of possibility.
